BIOGRAPHY

BEHIND THE MUSIC

Kenzie Yango is professional composer for film, television, and videogames. His work has been showcased at Hot Docs Festival, and was recently represented in the Toronto Independant Film Festival in the film En Pointe, directed by Daniel Tacchino. Currently, he is writing and directing a short musical called Before the Curtain Closes, which comments on the atrocity of bystanderism in regards to domestic violence.

Kenzie is a graduating professional from the Music Faculty at the University of Toronto where he has trained in classical music. The scope of his work encompasses a variety of genres from classical to rock, jazz to electronic, period to contemporary, and many more. Drawing inspiration from names such as Nobuo Uematsu, Howard Shore, and Jo Hisaishi, his music becomes a character within the story, narrating and interacting with the film. His focus is not to just put external music to a film, but to amalgamate film and music together as one complete work of art, each telling the others story.

Kenzie has partnered with independant film makers internationally in Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and other areas. He has also worked with graduates from renowned film schools such as Sheridan University, Humber College, and Ryerson University.
